PUERTO RICO NATIONAL GUARD AIR TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Duty Location: 156th Airlift Wing Operations Group, Muñiz ANGB, Carolina, PR IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG). If you are not a military member of the PRANG (i.e. member of the PR Army NG, civilian, active duty Airman, prior service, Airman member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the ANG Recruiting and Retention Superintendent (RRS) Office at (787) 529-2094 or (787) 529-6740 to request the PRANG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. Instructions to request such certification are available at https://www.pr.ngb.army.mil/hro/. If the MBR certification is not submitted, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 Permanent technicians Enlisted members currently employed in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. Area 2 Enlisted members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard and personnel that meet all requirements to become an Airman in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. (This position requires Air National Guard membership). First round consideration will be given to Area 1 Candidates (Area 2 Candidates will be screened only in the event that there are no qualified or recommended Area 1 Candidates). To prevent a grade inversion, military rank allowed for this position will be determined at the final evaluation of the vacancy announcement considering the military rank of the supervisor. Acceptance of any military technician position may cause the termination of entitlements and eligibility for all military bonuses and student loan repayments. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER (D1867000), WU-4818-10, you willprovide diagnostic, analytical, calibration, investigative research, troubleshooting, in-depth inspections, quality control inspections, certification, testing, evaluation, and maintenance or overhaul of all aircrew life support and chemical defense equipment. Provides formal academic classroom and technical instruction to all pilots/aircrew on all initial and continuation instruction to ensure aircrew survival ability under peacetime or combat operations. Responds and participates as an Air Force aircraft mishap board representative in investigating life support equipment failures/malfunctions associated with mishaps. Physical Demands: Work is usually completed while standing or sitting and may be for extended periods of time. Considerable amount of stooping, bending, or kneeling is necessary as well as working in cramped areas and on ladders and scaffolds. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance. Working Environment: Work is primarily in adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated shops. Occasional work outside is necessary and may be performed under complex conditions and or mission constraints to include extreme weather conditions, night operations, etc. Such work may be performed on the flight line or during field training events. Hazards include eye, respiratory, explosive munitions, pyrotechnics actuating devices and high pressure cylinders, and skin irritation from adhesives, solvents, silicones and epoxies, oxygen, oxidizers and lithium batteries. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, punctures, and abrasions from handling sharp tools and electrical shock when testing components, and irritation from materials treated with special finishes. The incumbent is subject to a substantial amount of noise from sewing machines and oxygen cylinders, vibration from tools and machines. Dust and lint from fabrics and fumes and odors from glues, preservatives, and cleaners may be present. Travel Required Not required Supervisory status No Promotion Potential 10 SDL2017
