Job Description Role: Applications Engineer - RPG Assignment: IT Location: Puerto Rico, with the possibility of working from home after six months of training Humana is seeking a Technology Applications Engineer you will: perform coding, testing, implementation and support tasks in order to develop, maintain, and enhance computer solutions for business needs. You will also act as a group leader, partnering with project managers to transform business requirements into actual designs. Interpret production trends and abnormalities in order to determine root causes Answer incoming customer calls, resolving specific questions about specific applications Create process improvements for various business segments Participate in Humana’s Disaster Recovery exercises Electronic membership enrollment Membership reconciliation with external entities Online interface to via IBM WebSphere MQ and support EDI transactions with Clearing House Ad hoc reporting Extensive monthly, quarterly and annual medical reporting On Demand reporting for external entities Create Interface to external vendors Automated letter generation Role Essentials Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience Senior experience in an AS400 iSeries environment Programming experience in RPG (IV, ILE), CL, DDS, OS/400 system commands, and AS/400 system tools SQL, Query and RPG Embedded SQL Experience using ILE to create procedures and objects Strong working experience and hands application development in iSeries/AS400 and be able to contribute to all the aspects of software engineering including design, coding, testing, reviews and support Comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Access Must be able to read, understand and communicate in both English and Spanish Role Desirables Previous experience with IBM Mainframes Working knowledge of DB2, web development, Style Sheets and Crystal Reports Previous experience with IBM AS/400 DB2 database development EDI ASC X12 experience / Extol is plus IBM Web sphere Health insurance industry experience.
