The Disaster Recovery Specialist within Government Services performs essential tasks for the timely analysis and processing of documentation required by federal regulations associated with monitoring of expenditures related to disaster recovery grants. The Associate must be a critical thinker who is detail oriented and unafraid to challenge the status quo. The Associate position could require up to 100% travel, or temporary relocation to disaster recovery areas. Position Responsibilities: Learn the intricacies of Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation grant programs, HUD, CDBG related programs, and other federal funding streams. Communicate with recipients of federal grants related to disaster recovery Review, analyze, and compile documentation provided by grant recipients Test Documentation provided to ensure grant scope was followed in anticipation for the receipt and/or disbursement of federal funds Analyze results of testing to determine whether or not a variance found should be reported as a compliance finding Ability to travel up to 100% of the time, and temporarily relocate to a project site if needed Participate in coaching program provided by HORNE LLP“Full Potential Skills” program Learn all new technology introduced by the Firm as appropriate for practice area Other duties as assigned Required Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field required Minimum of one (1) year in a professional office setting Bilingual– Spanish speaking Open to travel for extended periods of time to disaster recovery areas including Puerto Rico.
