City: Melbourne State: Florida Building Inspector DEFINITION To perform technical building inspection and plans examining work to enforce compliance with building codes, regulations and ordinances. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives supervision from the Building Inspection Supervisor and the Chief of Building and Safety ESSENTIAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS - Essential duties may include, but are not limited to: Provide exemplary customer service to all individuals by demonstrating a willingness to be attentive, understanding, and responsive, fair, courteous, as well as respectful, and to actively participate in maintaining a positive customer service environment Inspect commercial, industrial and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations Examine plans and specifications of new construction, additions and alterations to residential, commercial and industrial buildings to determine compliance with the provisions of applicable construction codes, ordinances and regulations Inspect existing buildings and premises for change of use, occupancy, or compliance with applicable codes and ordinances Inspect foundation, concrete, steel, masonry, wood construction, framing, plastering, plumbing, heating and electrical installations and a large variety of other complex and routine building system elements Issue notices for violation compliance; maintain records of history of facts for possible legal actions Approve the issuance of building and zoning permits based on level of assigned duties Confer with architects, contractors, builders and the public in the field and office; explain and interpret building requirements and restrictions Log, route, track, and process all incoming plans; respond to code and related questions in person and on the phone Maintain files and reports regarding inspection and plan check activities and findings Attend and participate in meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of building inspection and plans examination 12 Conduct inspections and review plans for seismic safety precautions and code compliance 13 Work with the Neighborhood Improvement Task Force performing code enforcement work Perform related duties and responsibilities as required If you are an individual with a disability and you would like us to assist you with searching the Careers Page site for employment opportunities and/or assistance with completing your profile and application, please contact us at 1-888-357-7020 or email us with your request to USinforus.bureauveritas.com We are happy to assist you and encourage you to consider Bureau Veritas for your next great career opportunity If you would like additional information regarding Bureau Veritas' federal obligations in regards to equal employment opportunity, please click the link below: http://www1.eeoc.gov/employers/upload/eeoc_self_print_poster.pdf SDL2017
