Carpenter

Job Description Framer/Carpenter’s role is to construct and repair building frameworks and structures—such as stairways, door-frames, partitions, and rafters—made from wood and other materials. Carpenter also may install kitchen cabinets, siding, and drywall. They will maintain a professional, ethical, and positive attitude with a high level of customer service working with subcontractor as well as homeowners. Essential Functions Interpret and understand engineering and/or building plans, improvement standards, construction specifications, and city ordinances Knowing and understanding blueprints, building plans and specifications Frame floors, walls, roofs and decks Exterior trim and siding Installing windows and exterior doors Installing cabinetry, millwork and interior doors Install and connect appliances Install sub-flooring and underlayment Install hardware on doors, windows and cabinets Patch and texture drywall Caulking and touch up paint Excavations on small foundations and pads Form and pour small foundations and pads Clean and inspect work areas Supervise all work done by carpenter apprentice and laborers Support superintendents Competencies Extensive knowledge of power tools, including skill saw, miter saw and jigsaw Possession of basic hand tools and reliable transportation to job sites Willingness to work overtime when necessary to deliver the project on time Capable of climbing on ladders and carrying at least 80 pounds Knowledge of lumber grades and countertop materials Work Environment This construction job operates indoors and outdoors. Work required outdoors is subject to varying weather conditions. This role routinely uses various materials and power equipment. Job requires the ability to be able to work in cramped spaces, frequent lifting, standing, and kneeling. Education and Experience High School Diploma or Equivalent 1 years’ experience in finish carpentry Additional 1 years’ experience in rough carpentry preferred Skilled Certifications are a plus but not required Site planning experience a plus Additional Eligibility Qualifications Valid driver’s license Reliable transportation with applicable insurance coverage
