U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) 8 VA Sunshine Network is seeking an experienced physician or dentist leader for our CEO/Medical Center Director (MCD) opportunity at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) in San Juan, Puerto Rico . VACHS provides services to a population of 150,000 Veterans in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition to our main facility in San Juan, we offer services in multispecialty clinics and community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC). These clinics are located in: Arecibo, Mayagüez, Guayama, Ponce, St. Croix, St. Thomas, Utuado,Ceiba, Comerio & Vieques. In fiscal year 2017, VACHS had an annual budget of $657M, employed 3,600 healthcare FTE (700 RN and 300 MD/DO), operated 402 total operating beds (280 hospital beds and 122 Community Living Center beds), conducted 1M outpatient visits, and had over 10K admissions with an average daily census of 317. Approved for a recruitment/relocation incentive, relocation assistance and Appraised Value Offer (AVO). Basic Requirements: U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States or in the District of Columbia. The Physician must maintain a current registration to continue employment with the VA. Provide proof of this license in the application package Demonstrated Leadership Ability Additional Physician Requirements: Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association, or other residences which the Professional Standards Board determines to have provided appropriate professional training Degree of doctor of medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of VA for the year in which the course of study was completed Additional Dentist Requirements: Residency or Comparable Experience: Completion of an approved residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients Degree of Dentistry: Degree of doctor of dental surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry.
