Communications Associate
Position Summary:
Saint John's School, a Toddler to 12-grade co-ed secular school is actively seeking dynamic, innovative Communications Associate to provide tactical support in community communications, social media, brand storytelling, and content creation. Reporting to the Communications Director, this junior-level role is responsible for helping bring the school's voice and values to life across platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and engaging content that supports the school's mission, values, and strategic goals.
The ideal candidate is a creative, organized, and digitally savvy communicator with a working knowledge of communications, social media, and basic marketing principles. It's a go-to for support creating content, managing day-to-day communications tasks, and amplifying the school's presence in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree (or coursework in progress) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
* Strong English writing, editing, and verbal communication skills (Spanish writing and editing proficiency is a plus).
* Experience or coursework in social media and digital content creation, including understanding social media platforms, trends, and metrics.
* Working knowledge of Canva or similar creative design tools.
* Organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with a proactive and professional attitude.
* Basic understanding of how to engage with media, write press releases, and track media coverage.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Awareness of tools like Meta Insights, or social media dashboards to assess communications performance (Google Analytics is a plus).

Task and Responsibilities:
* Communications & Messaging Support
* * Draft, edit, and proofread community emails, newsletters, and internal announcements under the direction of the Communications Director.
* Assist in collecting, organizing, and editing stories, quotes, and photos that showcase the school community.
* Content Creation & Social Media Support
* Assist in creating content for social media channels, including visuals and caption writing.
* Help maintain and update the social media content calendar with timely, engaging posts.
* Provide on-the-ground coverage for events (photos, videos, live posting).
* Monitor comments and messages and flag engagement opportunities or community feedback.
* Track basic metrics and engagement trends for internal reporting and insights.
* Brand Storytelling & Visual Consistency
* Support brand consistency by ensuring all created materials follow tone, voice, and visual identity guidelines.
* Assist in designing branded templates, flyers, digital signage, and presentation materials.
* Help maintain a library of visual assets, including photos, graphics, and archived materials.
* Marketing & Event Support
* Assist with marketing efforts for admissions, development, school initiatives, and events (such as open houses, fundraisers, and community initiatives).
* Provide content and logistical support for campaigns.
