Cybersecurity Certificate Instructor

*Job Overview*

The Cybersecurity Certificate Instructor for the Puerto Rico CyberHub program will provide high-quality, learner-centered instruction to a diverse cohort of Hispanic pre-college students, high school graduates, professionals, and technicians pursuing cybersecurity certifications. The instructor will deliver online and facilitated courses, offer virtual and in-person mentorship, and contribute to student success initiatives aligned with Atlantic University's mission to develop Puerto Rico as a leading hub for cybersecurity services and education.

Atlantic University's PR CyberHub is a pilot initiative funded by the Department of Economic Development and Commerce of Puerto Rico, aiming to train 100 students per year and support the creation of cybersecurity startups, freelance practices, and consultancies to stimulate the formal economy and technological innovation on the island and beyond.

*Responsibilities*
* Deliver and facilitate cybersecurity courses aligned with industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CCNA) using existing platform and virtual lab resources.

*Qualifications:*
* Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field (Master's preferred).
* Active industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, or related).
* 2+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity.
* 1+ year of experience in adult education, online instruction, bootcamp facilitation, or technical training preferred.
* Required bilingual (Spanish-English) proficiency.
* Familiarity with virtual labs, e-learning platforms, and student tracking tools.
* Passion for mentoring underrepresented and non-traditional students, especially first-generation college students.

*Work Modality:*
* *Hybrid* (remote instruction and in-person support sessions).
* Flexible schedule to accommodate learners with varying availability (evening/weekend sessions).
* Offer instructional support through both *self-paced* and *facilitated online learning* models.
* Conduct at least *one weekly live hybrid support session* to reinforce cybersecurity concepts, address student questions, and maintain engagement.
* Provide academic counseling and track individual student progress using mobile apps and learning management systems.
* Host monthly cohort meetings, Q&A sessions, and enrichment activities to foster community, engagement, and continuous learning.
* Support learners with different backgrounds, English proficiency levels, and life situations, applying a flexible and empathetic approach to mentorship.
* Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to monitor learner progress and intervene proactively when academic support is needed.
* Guide students toward certification exam readiness, successful exam completion, and, if desired, entrepreneurial paths supported by Atlantic University's Colosseum incubator.
* Participate in program evaluation activities and data reporting to improve instructional delivery and outcomes.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity threats, certifications, and instructional strategies.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
