General Description
We are looking for a developer to support Popular in identifying, designing and implementing data science & artificial intelligence solutions.
The ideal candidate should have exceptional skills in programming machine learning models, as well as knowledge of data science, statistics, machine learning algorithms, and software engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsabilities
Understand business needs and devise a development plan for a machine learning model considering factors such as:
Data availability, prediction to be made, business context, scoring needs, implementation architecture, etc.
Implement machine learning models by going through the data science development cycle which includes,
Research and implement appropriate machine learning algorithms to solve business problems
Develop visualizations, transformations, feature selection and other techniques to improve the performance of the models
Perform statistical analysis of machine learning models results and act upon analysis outcome
Assess machine learning development techniques & algorithms to incorporate into model development cycle
Use software engineering best practices for the full development life cycle of Machine Learning models, including coding standards, code reviews, version control management, testing, deployment and monitoring
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or related field
Experience
At least 2 years of experience as Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer
Requiered Qualifications
Proficiency with Python and libraries for machine learning such as scikit-learn, Matplotlib, and pandas
Expertise in visualizing and manipulating big datasets
Strong knowledge of a variety of machine learning algorithms (SVM, decision trees, random forest, neural networks, etc.)
Strong knowledge of the data science development process
Strong oral and written communication skills (English and Spanish)
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of Statistics (p values, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, etc.)
Knowledge of relational databases and SQL
Knowledge of Machine Learning / statistical frameworks, such as Jupyter, AWS, Azure ML, Knime, SAS, Strata, etc.
Experience with visualization tools such as Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
Experience on Scrum, Lean or other Agile methodologies and general software lifecycle
Ability to learn new skill sets and adapt to work in different roles of the team, based on the needs (cross functional), for example, gather requirements and conducts trainings rather than developing
