Job Description: Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products using computer design and engineering systems. Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations. Develops data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs. JOB ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Lead team in technical aspects of the job: CAD modeling and drawing, GD&T stack-ups, tolerance analysis and implementation of mechanical / electrical design concepts. Manages a team of primarily intermediate or experienced professionals, with freedom to determine how assignments are completed (e.g., objectives and approaches to completing work). Sets objectives and guides others on execution/approach for achievement of operational results. Problems faced are difficult and involve consideration of multiple variables. Explains policies, practices, and procedures and may influence others. Leads requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large projects. Coordinates systems, controls and other engineering disciplines, organizational studies, and project management. Manages the collection and analysis of customer specifications and system level requirements, decomposing into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generating verification criteria and plans for the requirements. Manages operating budgets and monitors the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of engineering activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that business objectives are met. Manages work processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large projects. Coordinates with other organizations to coordinate team assignments for electrical and mechanical design Selects, leads, directs, evaluates, and develops a team of professionals to ensure that programs are completed on time, within budget and as per set goals OTHER MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES OR TASKS Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required. Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using ACE tools efforts. Obtain ACE Associate certification. Support project management activities. Based on business needs, you may be required to support other duties/functions within the company. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. 5+ years' of experience in Engineering 4+ years' of knowledge in CAD modeling and drawing, GD&T stack-ups, tolerance analysis and implementation of mechanical or electrical design concepts 1 + years' of project management skills including risk management, project scheduling and staffing 1+ years' of experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera 2+ years of supervisory or management experience 1+ years of experience in creating career development programs to ensure skills and performance of employees meet the organization’s current and future needs. English fluency (verbal and written) US Citizen Preferred Skills Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering is preferred Ability to manage programs or parts of the program including successfully managing small group of engineers under your technical guidance. Experience as project leader managing scope, schedule and budget for engineering activities Knowledge and experience applying Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance metrics Experience with bid and proposal efforts for engineering programs Experience with Microsoft Office applications Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment Strong interpersonal, strong leadership, and organizational skills Excellent at promoting teamwork Possess strong leadership skills as demonstrated with interpersonal interaction, individual mentoring to develop the team composition, and training.
