Diabetes Program Manager and Support, Global Health Location: San Juan, PUERTO RICO Puerto Rico Project HOPE is an international NGO of more than 500 engaged employees and hundreds of volunteers who work in more than 25 countries, responding to the world's most pressing global health challenges. We have helped build hundreds of health programs from the ground up and responded to humanitarian crises worldwide. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for facilitating the program implementation and management, of the Addressing Diabetes Puerto Rico self-management programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Facilitates the implementation and expansion of the Addressing Diabetes in Puerto Rico self-management program in coordination with assigned Project HOPE support staff. Liaises with the Puerto Rico Department of Health, government offices and non-governmental organizations as necessary to establish Memoranda of Understanding and other formal collaborations under the direction of the Senior Program Manager. Participate in the overall program strategic planning and budgeting management. Generate timely, complete, and accurate reports on the status of program operations, communicating program progress to funders as required. Maintains regular communications with field Program Coordinators and facilitates communications between HOPE headquarters and the field: Conducts regular program review meetings with participating partners, clinics, communities and other stakeholder groups to monitor progress and constraints. Prepares regular program progress reports to keep HOPE headquarters and field staff informed and advised Initiates and facilitates timely planning and startup of work plan and related activities. Throughout the duration of the program, facilitates the updates, monitoring and revision of work plans. Liaises with field Program Coordinators to ensure compliance of required deliverables Coordinates with HOPE staff and partners to ensure timely completion of program objectives Oversees daily program operations including, but not limited to, program implementation, financial operations, recruitment and staffing, purchasing and communications. Oversees the timely preparation and submission of reports to HOPE HQ and partners as required. Authorizes program expenses within the limits of approved budget and oversees program implementation activities according to the approved program plan Other duties as assigned. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists in identifying and securing resources for program participants Participates in special projects, ad hoc meetings and other duties as assigned. Assists in identifying and securing resources and GIK for program participants PREREQUISITES: Bachelor's degree and strong project management experience required. Master's degree in Public Health or related health education field preferred. Minimum 7 years of supervisory and program management experience. Superb inter-personal, analytical and communications skills. Demonstrates initiative; results oriented; patient service focused strong sense of urgency. Strong knowledge in Puerto Rico Health system and 1 year of experience managing health programs in PR preferred. Knowledge in program planning, budgeting and program development. Self-starter, high-energy individual with strong coordination, facilitation and problem-solving skills. Minimum 3-year diabetes health education, chronic diseases prevention or diabetes program-related experience required. Ability to live and work in Puerto Rico. English and Spanish language proficiency required. Sound judgment to make difficult decisions when problems arise, with effective conflict resolution skills to address any personnel issues that may impact the project.
