Director of Cutting Operations - Responsible for coordinating and supervising the textile cut work at the plant for multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring quality requirements are satisfied at the lowest possible cost and in accordance with scheduling requirements, working with embroidery and screen printing production and a variety of fabric construction elements including weave type, weaving tension, weaving faults width, grams per square meter (GSM), cover factor, crimp, looms, dyeing, and fabric finish types. Duties include analyzing, planning, prioritizing, and scheduling cutting room production per the cutting schedule for manufacturing facilities and cutting kit customers based on material availability and process efficiency; prioritizing projects as needed to provide the best possible customer service; following up on cut work status and prioritizing projects to meet schedules; reacting quickly to issues that may impact the cutting schedule and implementing appropriate solutions; communicating issues to all applicable parties; analyzing production reports; conducting fabric utilization analysis, including comparing total yardage costed versus total yardage used, as well as investigating and preparing corrective action; following up with Marker Room on planning and scheduling matters and prioritizing as needed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Cutting Room operation; following up on issues related to employees with production make up; conducting textile laboratory testing; managing specialized cutting machinery including Lectra, Gerber, and Dermatron and ensuring that all equipment used is in proper working conditions; making sure that all employees are following all safety guidelines; investigating spreads with more than 2% of fabric loss; supporting the preparation of cost sheets for new products; identifying training needs and coordinating with human resources to determine best course of action; communicating with Plant Managers and Quality Management, including QA supervisors at the sewing facilities for cut quality feedback; traveling to manufacturing sites, including cutting kit customers, to assist in any cut work related issues when necessary; and performing special projects as required. This position oversees seven direct reports, including the Warehouse Manager, the Mechanic Manager, the Cutting Supervisors (two) and the Marker Makers (three).

Position requires: (1) High school diploma or foreign equivalent. (2) 24 months of work experience in a planning, manufacturing, supervision, and/or administration position in the sewing cutting industry, to include planning, prioritizing, and scheduling of cutting to satisfy multiple simultaneous contracts; working with specialized cutting machinery including Lectra, Gerber, and Dermatron; conducting textile laboratory testing; working with embroidery and screen printing production; and working with a variety of fabric construction elements including weave type, weaving tension, weaving faults width, grams per square meter (GSM), cover factor, crimp, looms, dyeing, and fabric finish types. (3) Bilingual in English and Spanish to translate documentation, requirements, and specifications to direct and indirect reports on the production floor. English and Spanish are the official languages of Puerto Rico, with Spanish being the dominant language. (4) Travel approximately 10% of worktime to visit manufacturing sites in Lajas and Las Marias, Puerto Rico. (5) Standing/walking is required for approximately 70% of worktime to move around the manufacturing facility. (6) Moderate noise in the facility due to sewing machines, fabric cutting equipment, forklifts and other equipment.
