POSITION SUMMARY:

An *Elementary School Teacher (Pre-Kindergarten to 6th Grade)* is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of young students. The teacher plans and delivers age-appropriate instruction across core subject areas, integrating creative teaching methods to engage students and promote critical thinking, collaboration, and a love for learning. Responsibilities include lesson planning, student assessment, classroom management, and active participation in the school community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*Responsibilities and Duties:*
* Provide a developmentally appropriate instructional program that reflects the *Caribbean School's Mission, Vision, and Beliefs*, while meeting the unique needs of students from Pre-K through 6th grade.
* Plan and implement engaging lessons in foundational subjects including language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and character education.
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, empathy, and student independence.
* Use differentiated instruction and formative assessments to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
* Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, behavior, and development, and communicate progress to parents and school administration.
* Promote early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning through structured activities, play-based learning, and project-based instruction.
* Integrate technology in the classroom using digital tools to enhance student engagement and support individual growth.
* Establish clear classroom routines, expectations, and behavior management strategies that align with school policies.
* Collaborate with grade-level teams, support staff, and administrators to ensure continuity of instruction and shared responsibility for student success.
* Supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal) and participate in assigned school duties.
* Attend Parent's Night, parent-teacher conferences, school celebrations, professional development sessions, and other required school events.

Requirements and Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in *Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education* (Master's degree or additional certifications preferred).
* Valid teaching certification/license for elementary grades (Pre-K to 6) or the ability to obtain certification in Puerto Rico.
* Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish is highly beneficial in a bilingual educational setting.
* Familiarity with child development principles and best practices in early and elementary education.
* Experience using *Google Workspace (Docs, Classroom, Drive, Calendar)* and Microsoft Office tools.
* Comfortable with using educational technology, Student Information Systems (SIS), and digital gradebooks.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
* Strong organizational, classroom management, and time management skills.
* Creative, patient, flexible, and committed to creating a joyful and enriching learning experience.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and model professionalism in a school setting.
