This position resides within the Puerto Rico VAP organization and is responsible for leading the medical interface with payers and organized customers and providing field insights into research strategies and research projects. It is also responsible for contributing to the strategy for the value proposition of the brands/disease areas supported.Core Responsibilities:The position has two main responsibilities: a) leading the medical interface with key access customers in a field-facing role, and b) leading the local efforts to conduct health economics and outcomes research as a part of a cross-functional matrix team in an internal-facing role.Conducts field-facing activities on specific accounts which include managed care accounts and other organized customers in order to facilitate appropriate patient access, medical policy, coverage, and reimbursement for all BMS portfolio assets.Develops sustainable customer relationships and discusses comprehensive scientific, health economic, epidemiology, and quality of life information.Works closely with VAP Managers, Scientific Advisors, and home office matrix teams.Increase the internal awareness and understanding of Outcomes Research by representing HEOR on cross functional marketing and sales teams.Collaborates on the development and implementation of the HEOR strategy, plans, and research.Contributes towards defining the research strategy to ensure BMS answers key questions in the health care marketplace driven by direct payer insights in accordance with Company policies and in collaboration with the Medical Team and US HEOR Organization. Works closely with the Medical Team and US HEOR Organization to develop, interpret, and disseminate data/information assessing the medical value of BMS assets.Lead efforts to develop local HEOR studies relating to health economics, epidemiology, quality of care, and market access.Make recommendations on external collaborations, profile organizations, and researchers for appropriate expertise.Support design and initiation of HEOR studies and surveys that meet scientific and business needs within the appropriate legal and regulatory requirements.Collaborate effectively with outside researchers and US HEOR colleagues in managing projects.Candidate Specifications: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) with an emphasis in health services research, health economics research, public health, health services, or related field. Minimum three years of previous work experience in the pharmaceutical, managed care, or consulting industries with a primary focus on Market Access (public or private payers). Preferred Qualifications: Must possess the ability to understand, interpret and make recommendations concerning the evolving US healthcare marketplace and comparative effectiveness research. Proven ability to build customer relationships. Demonstrated strong problem solving and communications skills. Flexibility to travel is required.
