Job Description:
Medical technology work in the area of progenitor cell processing of the bone marrow, known as "Peripheral Blood Stem Cell (PBSC)". Of not being working in the area of clinical services, offers assistance in the area of specialized immunohematology (reference laboratory), which consists of performing biochemical analysis of the product to determine compatibility, presence of antibodies against red cells, phenotype and various qualities and conditions Additional related to the content and condition of the blood. In addition, it will serve of support in any other special project, as required and assigned by the Administration of Blood Services.
Responsibilities
1. Process and store products collected from progenitor cells of the bone marrow.
2. Handle broken containers containing bone marrow or PBSC for transplantation.
3. Perform quality control of the bone marrow progenitor cells and the Equipment used and related.
4. Develop or review procedures related to the PBSC, as necessary.
5. Receive and dispose, according to established procedures, of critical materials in PBSC processing.
6. Handle PBSC product labels.
7. Document and report the test results of the "Hematopoietic" products Progenitor Cell (HPC) ". Handle HPC products with positive markers.
8. Perform inventory of reagents and cell processing materials progenitors of bone marrow and HPC products that are stored.

9. Take inventory of PBSC or bone marrow products that are stored and make the required notification to doctors about these, according to the Established procedure.
10. Collaborate with the Clinical Services Coordinator in the coordination of PBSC and bone marrow procedures.
11. Collaborate with the Clinical Services Coordinator in the programming of the HPC infusion.
12. Pack the bone marrow and PBSC products to be transported to the processing laboratory
13. Maintain and review the records of the patients to whom they are collected HPC, as established in the procedures.
14. Coordinate the collection and delivery of viral tests in donors and patients.
15. Request results of crops and colony counting in the required time and established by the procedures.
16. Manufacture and process granulocytes-apheresis as requested by the hospitals
17. Work in the area of specialized immunohematology (reference laboratory), of not having procedures related to clinical services. In addition, serve of support in any other special project, as required and assigned by the Administration of Blood Services. For the lab tasks of reference, should refer to the job description of this position.
18. To remain competent in the tasks and procedures related to bone marrow progenitor cell processing to act as instructor and facilitator for other staff, as necessary and required.
19. Comply with all regulations of the Federal Drug Agency and Food, of the American Red Cross (Region, Area and NHQ), of the Association of Blood Banks, the Department of Health, and other state agencies and federal, applicable in your work area.
20. Comply with all safety regulations and use all safety equipment that apply in your work area.
21. Perform other similar tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor in natural sciences supplemented with a certificate in medical technology, from an accredited institution.
Registration of Health Professionals, registration and current license.
Minimum of one year of experience in medical technology in a blood bank.
Bilingual (Spanish / English).
Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills.
Availability to travel outside of Puerto Rico.
Oriented on good customer service.
Temporary Assignment (approximately 1 year) Salary is $14.44
Monday to Friday and working hours can vary from 7 am to 6 pm.
