What Health System Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health Health System Pharmacy is responsible for providing customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers may also consult with and advise healthcare team on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes. Accountabilities Minimize the amount of time hospital resources spend researching and analyzing data to allow more time for patient care activities. Implement capabilities to continuously identify formulary and clinical pharmacy cost reduction initiatives in the Hospital. Align formulary management cost control and P&T product selection processes to expedite medical staff review and approval of cost control strategies presented for consideration. Develop procedures and processes that will improve the P&T product selection process, expedite medical staff review and approval of cost control strategies, and support greater collaboration between pharmacy and the medical staff. Provide ongoing pharmaceutical cost savings opportunity analysis as described: Analysis of Cost Drivers: Each month, analyze pharmaceutical cost and use patterns to identify cost drivers and identify significant changes in purchasing patterns; Medication Use Savings Opportunity Analysis: Clinical Manager will review medication use practices and identify opportunities to create savings; Initiative Tracking: Clinical Manager will review formulary and medication use initiative programs (e.g., therapeutic interchange, IV to PO monitoring, dosing, etc.) for cost savings opportunities; Each quarter, work with the customer to identify cost saving initiatives for implementation. Prepare initiative project charter. Document initiative project plans. Establish performance measurements and targets. Provide supporting tools and templates to facilitate implementation of recommendations. Provide a quarterly dashboard documenting the implementation status of all clinical projects.
