Prep Cook

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in meal preparation, ensuring that all ingredients are prepped and ready for cooking. This position requires a strong understanding of food safety and handling practices, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the food industry, particularly within a dietary department or catering setting, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

* Prepare and chop ingredients according to recipes and specifications.
* Assist in the cooking process by preparing sauces, marinades, and other components.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace.
* Adhere to food safety standards and proper food handling procedures.
* Operate kitchen equipment safely, including knives and other culinary tools.
* Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation.
* Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and report shortages as needed.
* Support the dietary aide team in fulfilling special dietary needs for meals.

Qualifications

* Previous experience as a cook or in a similar role within the food industry is preferred.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques.
* Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking methods.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.60 - $11.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 28 per week
