The Project Manager (PM) will lead all planning and deployment aspects of customer from inception to installation, and typically oversees schedules and budgets to ensure goal attainment. The PM may be the principal customer liaison and must be able to manage concurrent projects adeptly. The PM will work at client site from time to time. This PM role typically involves extensive interaction with sales, systems engineering, product development, technical customer support and other members of cross-functional teams. Project management skills, rather than technical skills, are key, but a strong background in information technology application deployment/support is required for this particular PM position. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Supervise on-going project support/deployment activities and assist as needed in all phases of support/deployment of a project. Deployments vary in scope and may include multiple, parallel implementations requiring coordination of various teams from Itron, contractors and the customer, including but not limited to field (RF) engineers, IT staff, supply chain, contracting and finance staff. Lead project status meetings with customers and Itron management as part of project support/deployment. Document and communicate all project issues, potential solutions and recommended actions. Must be knowledgeable of project scope and contract requirements. Experience: This position requires a minimum of 8 years of direct large scale, multi-phase project management, including deployment of enterprise scale software systems. Experience doing this for an investor-owned utility is a plus. Demonstrated leadership, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be able to describe multiple business situations where these skills were leveraged. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and concurrent projects. Itron's networks are in great demand and the PM must be able to coordinate multiple projects in varying degrees of deployment. Experience in personal computer operations and use of word processing, project management, spreadsheet programs plus experience with off-the-shelf and special-purpose test programs. Microsoft Project is Itron's standard project management application. Experience and knowledge of gas, water and electric utility meter reading and related distribution automation technologies is desirable. Experience with GIS, CIS and other utility systems is highly desirable. Must possess above average written and verbal communication skills. Ability to have fun while working hard in a demanding, fluid start-up environment Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience. Advanced degree desired, MBA preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered. Certification: PMP preferred. Travel: 10-50%; must possess valid driver's license and a US passport.
