Caladwich Consulting, LLC, is looking for a qualified, organized, self-motived and experienced Archivist to physically process and catalogue a large collection of Puerto Rican records.Candidates should be living in Puerto Rico or willing to temporarily relocate!!

Job duties:
On a day-to-day basis the Caladwich Archivist will:
Work on-site at Caladwich facilities
Arrange the collection according to pre-set guidelines
Cull duplicate and non-historical/non-archival materials from collection with Federal approval
Rehouse items into acid-free folders and boxes, remove oversized materials (like large drawings) for flattening, using separation sheets; rehouse photographic materials in polyester sleeves
Rehouse audiovisual materials into acid-free boxes
Identify frail or unstable materials, such as newspaper clippings, and create preservation photocopies
Remove rubber bands, paper clips, and staples that are rusty or likely to rust, and other foreign objects
Label or re-label all boxes, folders, and cases as needed
Catalogue items by editing their existing descriptions, creating “finding aids” for these items/updating existing finding aids
Keep track of identification numbers for collections; document collection according to specific Federal guidelines
Identify and recommend necessary treatments for items that are damaged; document conservation needs.
Cleaning documents as necessary
Minimum Qualifications:
1. An MLIS with a concentration in Archives, and proven, hands-on experience surveying, processing archives (processing plans, developing hierarchies, etc.).
2. A Master’s Degree in Archival Studies
3. Certification with the Academy of Certified Archivists. The designation of Certified Archivist can be obtained by anyone with a master's degree in archival studies and a year of work experience. Anyone with a master's degree in a field other than archival studies needs two years of work experience with an active ACA certification.
