This position is responsible for ensuring adherence to the governance of the established Populars operational risk framework and ongoing oversight/monitoring of business controls, including risk and control self:assessments, key risk indicators, operational and potential losses, identification and evaluation of controls effectiveness, identifying control failures, facilitating risk remediation and monitoring the first line of defense in an effort to minimize risk exposures and strengthen the overall control environment.. This position will report to Operational Risk supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 13;
:Promotes a strong control culture and awareness of operational losses and controls across Popular.
:Provides guidance in the execution of Risk Control Self:Assessments (RCSAs), translates control deficiencies into action plans and provides recommendations to enhance controls in alignment with operational risk frameworks.
:Assist business units in performing risk analyses of their different processes and the identification of key risks and controls, as well as action plans to address any gaps and identifies opportunities to improve and strengthen the control environment.
:Advises business units on the status of their control environment related risk identification and control weaknesses and escalates issues and findings to appropriate stakeholders.
:Develop and conduct trainings to business units liaisons on the various operational losses and operational risk topics.
:Monitor adequacy of and compliance with mitigation and remediation plans adopted by the operational and business units.
:Review the established policies, standards and guidelines to incorporate new guidelines and best practices used to assess the operational risks.
:Perform root cause analyses on identified risk events to recommend improvements to prevent these risk events from re:occurring in future.
:Analyze trends in the key risk indicators.
:Analyzes data, including operational losses data, to calculate risks and outcomes. Evaluates, in coordination with business units additional mitigation strategies and actions that need to be taken.
:Prepare, generate and provide the information required for Operational Risk Committee, Risk Management Committee, and the Senior Management Team and Executives materials by the required due dates (scorecards, dashboards, metrics : KRI and adhoc reports).
:Support business units and/or operational risk management in the discussion and resolution of audits recommendations
Minimum Education 13;
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Engineering
Experience 13;
:Preferable 3:5 years previous work experience in operational risk or related experience.
:Must be bilingual (English and Spanish) and be able to speak and write both languages fluently.
