The Boeing Company is seeking skilled and highly adaptable Senior Software Engineers to perform software design, analysis, and test of integrated software/hardware solutions for the Laser and Electro-optical Systems (LEOS) group in Albuquerque, NM. Boeing-LEOS develops a wide range of laser weapons and electro-optical systems for a wide range of government customers.
Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Position Overview:
The engineer would work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems. Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical systems (LEOS) develops high performance Directed Energy and Electro-Optical Systems for a variety of customers and platforms. These solutions are typically employ embedded processing hardware using combination of FPGA's and general purpose processors.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
- Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system
- Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
- Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
- Works under minimal direction
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires ====ship. A DOE Q clearance is also acceptable . (Post Start)
Basic Qualifications Required:

- At least 5 years of experience programming with C/C++, and/or Java
- Experience with developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
- Bachelor, master or doctorate of science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
Desired Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience with software development for Directed Energy systems
- Experience with real-time operating systems like VxWorks or Integrity
- Experience with agile and classic waterfall development methodologies
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
