Position Summary: In this role, you will manage communication, policy and advocacy efforts across all of our pharmaceutical brands in Puerto Rico. Serving on the Leadership Team and working closely with the Managing Director, the role will partner with the business on integrated external activation and engagement plans, as well as innovative internal communication strategies. You will seek to drive business growth and improve the company’s reputation on the island. The Senior Manager will work closely with the Janssen North America Communication & Public Affairs team, the J&J Government Affairs & Policy (GA&P) team and the Janssen North America Policy & Advocacy team to ensure alignment with broader U.S. efforts across the company. Responsibilities: Provide corporate affairs counsel to the Managing Director and Leadership Team Create leadership platforms for the Managing Director to enhance the reputation of Janssen and increase engagement with employees Lead the development of the Communication & Public Affairs function in Puerto Rico Manage at least one report to build public affairs, communications and policy as core components of the Puerto Rico business Create and execute strategies to enhance the reputation of Janssen Puerto Rico Actively identify and monitor issues and provide crisis management counsel as required Provide guidance to the LT on critical policies and positions of external stakeholders that may shape our operating environment Develop and execute strategies to engage and inspire our employees Lead the development and deployment of internal communication initiatives to support the business Drive external engagement strategies to accelerate growth and enhance reputation Serve as media spokesperson for the Janssen commercial business in Puerto Rico Identify opportunities across the portfolio where communication & public affairs activities could either increase or retain the value of our brands Support media training and message development for key company spokespeople Drive communication and public affairs strategies for critical growth brands Execute programs and tactics to support proactive responses to various issues Manage agencies supporting these efforts Strengthen and develop meaningful relationships with key external stakeholders Build and strengthen critical relationships with patient, HCP and trade associations Develop new opportunities and relationships with key thought leaders and stakeholders, such as think tanks and policy development organizations Partner closely with the Senior Director, GA&P, Johnson & Johnson Puerto Rico to enhance the company’s footprint with external stakeholders Lead advocacy efforts to drive the debate in Puerto Rico and enhance patient access Identify strategies to shape the policy environment In consultation with J&J GA&P, create robust external affairs plans that demonstrate the full strength of Johnson & Johnson in Puerto Rico and across the U.S. Work to expand access to and remove treatment barriers for our medicines for patients across Puerto Rico Qualifications Required: A minimum of a bachelors degree 8 years of experience in communication, business or related field Excellent English and fluent Spanish language skills Demonstrated ability to craft compelling stories, with superior written, oral and visual communication abilities Experience with non-profit advocacy organizations Strong media engagement skills Demonstrated analytic ability Experience managing agencies and budgets Excellent judgment High level of professional maturity and ability to work effectively across levels, functions, regions, backgrounds – particularly, providing counsel to senior management Preferred: Advanced degree Health policy experience Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
