This position is responsible for providing scientific and technical expertise within the Analytical Science functions in Analytical Development and Commercialization for Puerto Rico Pharmaceutical Operations, in support of late stage development and launch of new drug products as well as in:line product investigations. This position will provide opportunity to work and collaborate with engineers, scientists and other customers/partners in cross:functional and/or multi:site teams.
The position is based in Merck, Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. Relocation assistance will be considered (US and/or Puerto Rico).
Qualifications
Requirements:
:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related area.
:
Five (5) years or more of experience for Ph.D., eight (8) years or more of experience for M.S., in analytical or product development.
:
Two (2) years or more years of experience in analytical method development, mainly chromatography.
:
Experience in analytical development in a pharmaceutical development setting is desirable.
:
Experience with physical characterization methods is a plus.
:
Years of academic setting may be considered.
Other requirements include:
:
In depth scientific understanding of analytical methodology.
:
Hands on experience with analytical instrumentation and troubleshooting.
:
Working knowledge of drug substance and/or drug product testing and/or method development.
:
Working knowledge of GLPs, GMPs and/or ICH or other quality guidelines, preferred.
:
Experience in analytical automation is a plus.
:
Working knowledge of statistics.
:
Bilingual (English and Spanish, oral and written).
:
Other Skills: communication, collaboration and project management, and demonstrated problem solving.

Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc.)
