Software Robotics Engineer - Support and innovation Job description
Based in Salinas USA, the candidate will be in charge of maintaining and improving the agricultural robots in the USA with the Support and Innovation team.
Since 2020, the customer is developing a WAAS (weeding as a service) service, that is to say that the robots are used and supervised by customers operators to do automatic weeding in the fields.
The challenge is to make WAAS a success by maintaining the robots everyday functional and offer the best user experience to operators and growers out there.
As the robots are operated in the fields, the working environment is half in workshop and half in the fields.
Tasks are mainly support: - diagnosis of failures
- helping to find and develop quick fix to the issues
- helping to mapping the fields for RTK robot guidance
Innovation and continual improvement of robots: - participate to test and integrate innovative solutions
- propose rugged solutions to improve robots
- propose automatics solutions to reduce mapping duration
The S&I team is based in France, which means the candidate is ready to work in an international context with flexibility (available for team synchronization early in the morning).
A full formation is required to perform the job, the formation center is based near Toulouse, In South of France, all charges covered by customer in case of primordial and necessary presence.
A previous professional experience in an innovation / R&D / prototyping context is needed.
Indoor and outdoor work environment.
Skills: C++, Clion, javascript, python, Linux Debian, bash, robotics, automatics, git, gnss guidance systems, actuators, sensors, vision, Deep learning, CAN protocol, network.
Electronics and mechanics basic knowledge, farming and weeding basic knowledge appreciated.
English language (and french, but not necessary)
Valid California driver's license.
Master's degree preferred, but a Bachelor's Degree or even a High School Diploma with experience is accepted.
Soft Skills: Autonomy, reactivity, organisation, team spirit, rigor, DIY and robotics lover, sensitive to environmental issues in agriculture context.
Not afraid of farming sector, and helping people that are feeding the world.
