POSITION SUMMARY:
A *Spanish Teacher (Grades 7–12)* is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish language and literature to students in a bilingual and multicultural environment. The teacher creates engaging lessons that promote reading, writing, grammar, oral expression, and cultural appreciation, while addressing the academic and developmental needs of students. Duties include lesson planning, student assessment, classroom management, and active participation in the school community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Provide an instructional program in *Spanish Language and Literature* aligned with the Caribbean School's Mission, Vision, and Beliefs, as well as curriculum standards applicable to Puerto Rico and U.S. frameworks.
* Plan and implement creative and structured lessons covering grammar, composition, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and oral communication for grades 7–12.
* Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, language fluency, and an appreciation of Hispanic literature and culture.
* Design and apply formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
* Maintain accurate records of grades, assignments, attendance, and student performance, and communicate progress to students and families.
* Integrate reading of classical and contemporary Spanish literature, as well as culturally relevant materials, to develop analytical and interpretive skills.
* Promote language development through group discussions, writing workshops, presentations, and creative projects.
* Enforce classroom rules and procedures in accordance with school policies.
* Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and student support services to enhance academic outcomes.
* Participate in school activities such as faculty committees, extracurricular clubs, and supervisory assignments (e.g., lunch duty, arrival/dismissal).
* Attend required events such as Parent's Night, parent-teacher conferences, professional development sessions, and other school functions.
Requirements and Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in *Spanish, Spanish Literature, Education, or a related field* (Master's degree or certification preferred).
* Valid teaching certification/license for secondary education (Grades 7–12) or ability to obtain certification in Puerto Rico.
* Proficiency in Spanish with excellent oral and written communication skills; fluency in English is preferred in a bilingual school setting.
* Experience using *Google Workspace (Docs, Classroom, Drive, Calendar)* and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Familiarity with digital gradebooks, Student Information Systems (SIS), and learning management systems.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective classroom management strategies.
* Ability to engage students in meaningful language activities that support both academic growth and cultural understanding.
* Demonstrated commitment to student success, collaboration, and professional development.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and work respectfully with a diverse school community.
