Position Description Develops advocates and enables the tools and methodologies to drive Medtronic process excellence. These tools may include, but are not limited to, Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management and other Improvement techniques. Leads and mentors Lean Sigma teams/ projects across Medtronic. Plans, supports, and provides training to others in the Lean Sigma methodology. Position Responsibilities Integrates Lean and Six Sigma improvement methodologies in supporting activities from Business Area assigned to drive process excellence and to achieve desired operational results. Develops and shares new methods and techniques to further the advancement of Medtronic Lean Sigma. Advocates and influences appropriate change and quality needs across Medtronic, including project selection. Maintains and monitors key performance metrics & reports. Drives a process excellence visibility and awareness across the businesses. Develops and monitors department standard operating procedures utilizing a reiterate review process to assure procedures are consistent with Business Unit and Customer Service practices and management directives. Evaluates effectiveness of and recommends alternatives for work processes and controls to achieve operating excellence. Researches best practice methods and/or tools for creating and managing documentation, offers possible alternatives, and leads implementations of solutions. Works with Management in establishing and monitoring annual improvement goals and in setting project priorities. Identifies and leads value stream mapping projects utilizing a Lean Sigma approach to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness through standardization, simplification, new technology, elimination of unnecessary work, or improved internal controls. Establishes effective relationships with the team member population to facilitate process improvement efforts. Attends management and/or team meetings to communicate key issues. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Quality Responsibilities Reports any observed or informed process and/or product non-conformities to the Supervisor. Finds resolution of Quality Situations at the area of responsibility. Reports any complaint regarding a Medtronic product to the Supervisor. Complies with all the requirements in the operational procedures at the area of responsibility in order to meet the requirements of all applicable Quality System regulations (e.g.: FDA Part 820 Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485 Quality Standard, R-PAL (Japanese QSR's). EHS Responsibilities Acknowledge and maintain commitment with the EHS Policy. Participate in the development of EHS improvement projects. Participate actively in the EHS programs to achieve the objectives and targets defined for the area. Engineers in Projects: (if apply) Ensure that the EHS considerations, legal and corporate requirements and efficiency indicators are included in new project design and project evaluation in order to maximize the cost/benefit ratio and minimize the EHS impacts and risks. Ensure that EHS performance indicators are included in the selection process of contractors. Evaluate and re-evaluate periodically the EHS performance of contractors and sub-contractors. Supervise that contractors perform their job in accordance to the EHS requirements in order to reduce, minimize or prevent EHS impacts and risks. Maintain current knowledge of the potential EHS aspects and risks of new projects. Minimum Education Bachelor Degree Basic Qualifications Background Educational: Engineering, Science, Finance, Supply Chain or related field Experience: o Senior Level: 5 Years with Diploma/ Degree or 3 Years with Advanced Diploma/ Degree Planning and/or project management skills Strong organizational and analytical skills that result in conclusive recommendations Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Proficient with Excel, Word and database applications Ability to manage conflict Ability to multi-task and deliver high quality results. Exposure to manufacturing environment Skills Analytical Thinking Problem Solving Interpersonal Relations Quality and Results Oriented Computer Literate Fluency speaking and writing in English and Spanish Continues Improvement Desired/ Preferred Qualifications Background Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or electronic industry Skills Teamwork Communications Project Management Working Conditions Mental Components: Capacity to calculate, classify, compare, coordinate, copy, edit, evaluate, interview, instruct, read, observe, organize, plan, compile, select, request and document. Physical Components: Light work requiring physical effort, in addition, requires communication skills, capability to move from one place to another, visual discrimination and tolerance to the use of personal protection equipment.
