As a Sr. System Administrator you will work with a variety of individuals that may include Application Architects, Infrastructure Operations teams, Project Leaders, external customers, business users, and senior management. You will design, lead, and execute large scale data center migrations. Will also manage Operating System upgrades, Operating System lifecycle and other duties requiring in-depth knowledge of Server Hardware and Software technologies. Primary Responsibilities Provides administrative support for Linux and Windows Platforms Acts as subject matter expert for Linux Operating Systems (standard operating procedures) Interfaces with Security Engineering and Operations for Security Standards for Linux Operating System Acts as subject matter expert on assigned projects. Takes responsibility for completion of assigned project tasks Actively participates in professional development of other less knowledgeable data backup and SAN resources Resource should understand how to utilize in-depth knowledge of virtualization using unified compute, storage and network resources Monitors relevant systems for availability and performance Performs periodic metrics reporting to show continuous performance and aligns SAN and data backups based on required performance guidelines Conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards Plans, documents and communicates operating systems, physical host and ancillary resource configuration standards Demonstrates understanding of current SAN and data backup technologies and terminology Demonstrates understanding of how business requirements impact technical requirements Designs and develops standard operating procedures optimizing performance for both operational and regulatory concerns Designs, recommends and develops a comprehensive system of inventory and monitoring for supported hardware and software Follows established IT processes for change, configuration and problem management as well as regulatory requirements Create templates and balancing resources for optimal performance, availability and risk avoidance Develops technical specificationsdesign documents that meet business and technical requirements and obtains appropriate approvals Ensures that technical specifications optimize applicationsystems performance Defines monitoring, data backup and reporting needs for SAN solutions Defines security requirements for applicable SAN technical solutions Maintains comprehensive standards documentation Employs the use of automation and templates for the creation of device configuration and design documentation ENGLISH PROFICIENT ASSESSMENT WILL BE REQUIRED AFTER APPLICATION Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in information computer science, technology, or related field 5 years of experience in supporting IT environments with expert level understanding of Linux and Windows 5 years of experience with event and incident management 3 years of experience with clustering, virtualization technologies (such as VMWare, Hyper-V) MS Windows Server (such as 2008R2, 2012, 2016) TCP IP networking and LAN WAN environments Bilingual (English Spanish) Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge on storage technologies such as EMC, Storsimple, H3PAR Knowledge in Cloud based technology Professional Technical Certification (Microsoft, VMWare, Linux Unix and or AIX) Knowledge on ITIL and ITSM methodologies Health care industry experience Careers with Optum.
