AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 Permanent technician enlisted currently employed in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities As a Supervisory Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Specialist, GS-1601-11, you will serve as manager of the Aircrew Flight Equipment Function, as equipment specialist, and Wing technical expert over all of the aviation Aircrew Flight Equipment Function activities to include: personnel supervision and operations support; material, fiscal and facility resources management; aircrew training programs; information management; and equipment air worthiness certifications. The incumbent also serves as liaison with state, Federal, and military agencies for matters concerning aircrew/passenger safety, search-rescue and recovery, mission support, and operational planning. Physical Demands: Work while in the office setting is sedentary. Walking, standing, bending, driving, and working in adverse weather conditions is required during regular visits to warehouse/shop locations. Lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds is required. Work Environment: Work is typically accomplished in an office setting. However, it is often necessary to meet with officials from other organizations or outside agencies to perform duties at other facilities, both on and off base. Duties require access to all areas of the flight line and require necessary precautions regarding noise, hazardous materials, explosives, fumes, and eye hazards. Excepted Civil Service Technicians are required to maintain a MOS/AFSC and military grade that is determined by the NGB to be compatible with the assigned technician position. In order to achieve compatibility prior to effective date of personnel action, individual selected must be eligible for military assignment to a paragraph and line number in one of the following: 1P0X1 Note: In order to qualify for above mentioned AFSC(s) you must comply with mandatory entry requirements contained in Air Force Manual AFMAN 36-2108, Enlisted Classification or AFMAN 36-2105, Officer Classification, as applicable. If selected for this position who is not qualified in one of the mentioned AFSC, MUST submit to HRO, before date of appointment, the correct military paperwork/application to attend the technical training school required to be AFSC Qualified. If selectee fails to process the school application and does not successfully graduate from the school, he/she will be terminated from the technician program for failure to meet the compatibility standards and receive a 30 days notice of separation. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations,keeping records, leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess more than THIRTY SIX (36) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as planning, setting goals and standards managing budget for the mission; providing authoritative technical direction in carrying out the mission of the function; performing characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of assigned aircraft, aircrew life saving and rescue-recovery equipment; preparing reports for oral and written to present briefings; analyzing and resolving difficult issues and problems, to include those related to life support equipment, management processes, work methods, data management, and operational procedures; managing maintenance and safety issues as they relate to aviation life support and rescue-recovery and the ability to review work projects to ensure they are in compliance with existing safety standards; evaluating facilities to ensure compliance with established Occupational Safety and Health standards, public health policies, and directives; preparing hazardous material shipping documents, scheduling of transport of munitions, coordination with munitions supply point, and documentation of appropriate forms. Education A maximum of 12 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours for 12 months of experience. The education must have been in fields directly related to the type of work of the position (i.e. Engineering or Industrial Technology, construction etc.) Copy of student transcripts or training certificates must be included in order to receive credit for education.
