Duties Help Duties Summary WHAT IS THE WAGE AND INVESTMENT (W&I) DIVISION? The Wage & Investment Division (W&I) serves about 122 million taxpayers who file upwards of 94 million returns each year. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities WHAT DOES A TAX ANALYST DO? A Tax Analyst plans, coordinates and conducts analytical studies, and projects. In this role, you will be responsible for performing both technical and analytical staff work. You will be required to participate on teams to design, build, test and deploy electronic employee leave productivity-enhancing tools by partnering with our customers to meet evolving business commitments and simplify taxpayer account processing. As a Tax Analyst you will: Develop and interpret guidance on program planning, execution, and evaluation for the compliance, accounts management and/or taxpayer education and communication functions. Participate on teams to design, develop, test and implement applications relating to the W&I AM E-Leave system. Support the maintenance of existing applications software. Analyze assigned program areas to discern trends in program delivery and consolidate report data to measure the effectiveness in meeting baselines or the degree to which program plans and achievements support strategic initiatives. Document customer business rules. Develop flow diagrams and/or pseudo-code. Provide technical guidance on issues, proposals and activities impacting program operations. Ensure units are in alignment with regulatory and administrative provisions and requirements. Test and debug programs according to detailed requirements and submit completed applications software to the project leader. Review proposals to alter or modify concepts, processes or functions for compatibility with program goals and objectives. Evaluate new requirements, policies, and modifications for impact on program operations, systems, and resources. Present findings, conclusions, and recommendations as a result of program studies, projects or reviews conducted. Disseminate revised procedures and changes in program operations. Experience in leading and delivering projects involving multiple directorates using Agile project management disciplines. Experience using IRS programs, policies, regulations, procedures, and operations to evaluate program plans and determine impact of changes on program goals.
