General Description
Acts as legal advisor for the title insurance area of Popular to guarantee compliance with the title insurance requirements by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate legal documents, plans, agency resolutions, title studies, CRIM documentation and any other necessary documents to determine if a title insurance policy is issued, anticipating the risks of each transaction.
Identify the need for escrow withholding when there is a potential risk in a transaction, write contracts for escrow withholding and justify withholding of funds, review legal documentation related to withholding funds in application to determine if the return of funds is appropriate.
Reviews the claims received to assist the title insurance companies in the process and processing of these. Identify and recommend possible solutions.
Answer the legal inquiries of the different units related to the issuance of title insurance policies, identify the legal situations that impede the transaction and recommend effective solutions for these.
Drafts and reviews procedures, provides recommendations and supports the implementation of processes

Education and Experience
Juris Doctor Degree from accredited school and five years of experience.
Certifications / Licenses
License to practice Law and Notary expedite by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and Department of State respectively.
