Position Description Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Selects allowances and devices mechanism detail. Does skilled fitting, timing and adjusting. Works from complicated drawings and sketches. Uses advanced shop mathematics and all types of precision measuring instruments. Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Computes dimensions; determines machining and material or parts required. Performs precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommends revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered; and solves problems relating to unusual materials, work-holding arrangements, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process. Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Lays out, fabricates, and assembles metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications Performs other position duties as assigned. Quality Responsibilities Reports any observed or informed process and/or product non-conformities to the Supervisor for action and resolution. Reports any complaint regarding a Medtronic product to the Supervisor. Complies with all the requirements in the operational procedures at the area of responsibility in order to meet the requirements of all applicable Quality System Regulations (e.g.: FDA Part 820 Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485 Quality Standard, R-PAL (Japanese QSR's). EHS Responsibilites Acknowledge and maintain commitment with the EHS Policy. Participate in the development of EHS improvement projects. Participate actively in the EHS programs to achieve the objectives and targets defined for the area. Minimum Education Technical School Diploma Basic Qualifications Background Educational: Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Tool and Die Maker or related field Experience: o Senior Level: 5 Years with Technical School or 3 Years with Associates or equivalent Exposure to manufacturing environment Skills Interpersonal Relations Quality and Results Oriented Computer Literate Basic oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English Desired/Preferred Qualifications Background Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or electronic industry SolidWorks Knowledge CAMWorks Knowledge Draft & CAD Design Machine Setup CNC Programming using CAM Software Skills Problem Solving Teamwork Communications Continues Improvement Working Conditions Mental Components: Capacity to calculate, classify, compare, coordinate, copy, edit, evaluate, interview, instruct, read, observe, organize, plan, compile, select, request and document.
