Vehicles Technician - Class 3

The Vehicles Technician Class 3 is responsible for (i) the execution of routine inspections, preventive maintenance and overhaul functions of revenue rail transit system vehicles; (ii) the operation of shop equipment and specialized tools as required for the completion of these tasks; and (iii) supporting other vehicle technicians with physical/mechanical labor for the completion of tasks of higher skill and knowledge level.
To apply you must possess the following qualifications:
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year accredited college or technical school and at least two years of relevant work experience. Extended work experience may be substituted for education credentials if appropriate.
Ability to speak, read and write both Spanish and English in a work setting.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Possession of a valid driver’s license in the appropriate class and any other certificates, licenses and registrations as required by law to perform the specified functions.
Experience in preventive maintenance, hvac maintenance, mechanics (automobile, aviation, heavy, industrial), pneumatics, electronics and/or electrical works is preferred.
Availability to work in rotating shifts. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
