Be part of the Advanced Engineering team that leads the delivery of automated solutions for existing and new products within the global Vision Surgery supply chain. Provides support to the Manufacturing organization to facilitate efficient operations within the production area, to optimize existing processes and to ensure that production goals are met. Responsible for all process/equipment validations and support product transfers, project documentation, adheres to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives. Support local and global projects. Travel to manufacturing sites support project implementations activities, such as validation characterizations and others. Travel to automation solution providers to support Factory Acceptance Test activities. Lead activities requiring process characterization and defining process parameters operating windows. Work closely with project manager or be the project manager for significant process engineering support activities. Initiates and completes technical activities to new or improved products or process, for current programs, next generation programs and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company. Analyzes and solves problems from basic engineering principles, theories and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and new innovative ways or a major breakthrough in technology. Incorporates business policies and procedures into task completion. Understands the business needs of the company and has knowledge of the customer needs of our business. Understands the business cycle and foresight of new technologies trends. Cultivates internal and external network of resources to complete tasks. Serves as a resource in the training of new engineers and employees. Act as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations and advice on significant matters. Acts as spokesperson to customers on business unit current and future capabilities. Work with Quality and Research and Development organizations to integrate new products or processes into the existing manufacturing area. Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. Minimum six (6) years experience in Engineering. Significant Six Sigma / Process Excellence experience including design of experiments, FMEA, fault tree analysis, statistical process analysis, is required. Knowledge of process scale-up and process optimization is preferred. Strong knowledge on Statistics is required. Knowledge of regulatory compliance with all local and federal agencies i.e., FDA, ISO, OSHA, is required. Experience in Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry is required. Proficiency in English and Spanish (oral and written) is required. The position requires thirty to fifty percent (25% - 30%) of domestic and international travel. Six Sigma and Project Management training or certification is preferred Proficiency with Minitab and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel) is required. Knowledge or exposure to programming languages, structure text code (e.g. HTML, XML, JAVA, C# or VB) is desired. Experience with Computer System Validation (e.g. document creation, test execution) is desired.
