SUMMARY: This role is responsible for a number of tasks that include, but are not limited to: month end closing activities, accounts reconciliations, fabricators & refiner reconciliations, freight management, permanent investment, Taxes, SURI, metals accounting, cycle count, inventory control and refining tasks. In addition, this role is responsible for reconciliations between systems to ensure all data is correct in all systems. The different tasks and responsibilities are divided between different individuals in the same role but cross training is coordinated in order to have flexibility amongst all the team members when coverage or changes are needed in order to maintain a robust back up system. Job requires high degree of independent judgement and broad background in accounting and manufacturing processes since tasks are performed with limited guidance. When required, employees must be available to work overtime in order to meet deadlines to comply with corporate closing and reporting and to comply with regulatory reporting among other tasks. The overtime can include weekends and/or holidays, in addition to extra hours during week days. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performing month end closing activities as it relates to the area of responsibility: Freight, metals accounting, permanent investments, SURI, Taxes, Cycle Count, Refining and/or inventory control, etc. Monitoring and updating monthly closing checklist in order to ensure compliance. Preparing account reconciliations as assigned; this includes identifying, following up, adjusting, any any other related task, until final clearing of all reconciling items as per corporate guidelines is achieved. This applies to general ledger, fabricators, refinable materials, Storage Locations and SAP vs ORGIT reconciliations. Compiling and analyzing data for Cost Review and following up on any pending items, as per company requirements. Maintaining all appropriate documentation needed for the task being performed as per internal controls requirements and CRIM guidelines. Processing/executing inventory adjustments requests, either thru the IM or WM SAP Inventory Modules. Providing feedback to material master data for issues identified during the execution of the areas of responsibility. Serve as back up to any of the other accounting/finance roles as needed. Understand overall flow of information and impact of transactions on balance sheet, earnings, cash flow, etc. Perform reasonable check of financial data. Update/create desk procedures for all tasks performed by this role to ensure they are appropriately documented. Attend business meetings and activities as needed. Provide support to other areas such as Manufacturing, Sourcing, Product Delivery, Maintenance, Engineering, as well as other areas within the Finance team, as needed or assigned. Must be SOX 404/Internal Control oriented. Responsible for providing audit information to internal and external auditors as needed. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Accounting from four (4) year college or university and five (5) years related experience and/or training. Knowledge of manufacturing practices. Extensive computer skills. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Effective Oral and Written communication skills in English and Spanish. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Other Skills and Abilities: Strong computer knowledge of PC tools and programs (Word processing/ Spreadsheets, Graphics, among others). Self-started, independent and flexible. Strong analytical skills. Extensive multi-tasking abilities. Results oriented. Ability to respond promptly to internal and external customer requests. Excellent time-management and planning skills with the ability to work under pressure when needed in order to meet deadlines.
