The Director of Development will be a highly experienced leader of people and programs, with the vision necessary to establish aggressive goals and objects for the program and the combination of experience and leadership qualities necessary to lead the agency through change and growth to the fulfillment of those objectives.
Doing so will require intelligence, strong management skills, and exceptional level of personal energy.
Essential Functions:
· Plan, organize and evaluate programs to encourage philanthropic support from other organizations:
· Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of fund raising programs
· Reviews and recommends fund raising activities for the agency
· Participates in public relation activities with various groups to encourage their support
· Works with groups such as advisory groups and boards for planning, organizing and evaluating programs for which funds are needed
· Maintain and nurture the relationship between the agency and those who are and have been major contributors in the past
· Develop and implement programs for major and special gifts and long term giving
· Prepare and obtain approval for an annual budget that is based on specific annual goals
· Develop a list of preliminary financial goals
· Manage financial resources prudently and effectively
· Plan and organize all tasks and resources in a manner which results in achievement of strategic goals and objectives
· Demonstrate a commitment to excellence through focusing on quality service
· Develop a priority list of activities for the self direction and the direction of departmental activities
· Prepare timely reports of activities including results as requested
· Assist in the recruitment of professional staff including preparation of a list of duties and responsibilities for each staff member
· Manage staff in a manner which ensures maximum utilization and creates a sense of respect and loyalty
· Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities, as assigned
Management Responsibilities
· Establish a set of goals and objectives for each year
· Evaluate the outcome of achieving (or not achieving) established goals
· Establish annual departmental budget
· Supervise, mentor, evaluate administration staff members
· Participate in management meetings and events as needed
Administrative Responsibilities

· Attend all staff and committee meetings, as necessary
· Perform other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned in writing

Proficiency in personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications

Educational Requirements:
MBA or other related Master's Degree program, is preferred
Experience:
Five or more years of experience in fundraising and grant writing or other philanthropic activities as well as working with individuals on major and planned gifts projects is required
Five or more years of experience in working in a not-for-profit organization, preferably in a religious organization
Special Requirements:
· Good appreciation and understanding of the Roman Catholic Church

Responsibility for Quantifiable Measures:
Preparation and administration of annual budget
Adherence to deadlines for timely budget reporting
Accountability for accurate and timely reporting of financial statements

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
Requires prolonged standing, walking and/or sitting
Require physical exertion to manually, move, lift, carry, pull or push objects or materials up to 25 pounds
May require occasional stooping, bending and reaching
Will primarily work in an office setting
Extensive use of a telephone is required
Working Environment:
Weekend and evening work hours will be required
