Overview

This full-time salaried position reports to the Chief of Business Development and will have responsibilities for nurturing new business expansion and relocation leads, qualified prospects, and for delivering Invest PR’s core services through three focused roles tied to CRM, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and online investment development platforms. The position’s specific responsibilities include CRM management and integration into all departments within of IPR. This position will also help create and manage an online BD-Related Prospect-investment platform and interface with and support global connections of Puerto Rico’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) Ecosystem.

Duties and Responsibilities

Business Development Administration (65%) –Through CRM leadership and management, help BD staff implement and bolster lead and prospect generation by:

Serving as Lead Administrator for implementation of Phase II of IPR”s CRM development.
Working daily with BD staff on CRM actions and deliverables to make IPR’s CRM a multi-faceted, multi-departmental, financially productive tool inside of and connected to IPR.
Creating weekly reports for all CRM activity for CBDO.
Using the CRM to help Business Development staff plan for and participate in trade shows and conferences, enhance connectedness and relationships with targeted site selectors, brokers, and multipliers.
Creating a digital online platform that integrates and trains Qualified Private Promoter (QPP) program consultants with CRM. This includes training, monthly reporting, and monitoring QPP activity via the CRM.
Creating a digital online platform that integrates and trains DDEC/PRIDCO staff with CRM.
Making sure the CRM is an effective tool on tablets and mobile phones for BD staff in the field.
Serving as the lead interface between IPR and CRM consultants with respect to enhancements, software upgrades, pricing, and budget.
Continuously training BD staff how to better follow up on leads and prospects generated through events, third party contractors, fam tours, multiplier and partner relationships and other promotion channels and relationships.
Creating BD templates and related CRM system products to facilitate quick, thoughtful, professional, and strategic response protocols to requests for information inside the CRM.
Working with Strategy and Marketing on case management activities inside of CRM.
Providing CRM support to management and IPR staff as needed.
BD Positioning of Puerto Rico I&E Ecosystem and Investor Platform (35%) - Work closely with the Chief of Business Development to:

Help implement a strategy to support I&E spaces and networks on the Island as they connect globally with other similar industry clusters and organizations in related sectors.
Host clients and handle I&E prospect management, including presentations to entrepreneurs, leaders of physical I&E spaces, coordinating visits and tours of prospect entrepreneurs and inventors, customizing IPR’s BD services to address issues or needs of I&E prospects, while ensuring the effective coordination with municipalities, government and private sector partners.
Assist with the development of tailored value propositions for target industries and lead generation activities inside the Innovation and Entrepreneurship space.
Support the development of a marketing, branding, and communication’s strategy that supports IPR brand development and lead generation in the I&E Ecosystem.
Help analyze and compile key economic, market and demographic data serving Puerto Rico’s existing and future I&E ecosystem in partnership with Strategy Department.
Assist with the identification and prioritization of promotional events and activities inside the I& Ecosystems. Help coordinate and elevate these I&E activities with broader BD activities and initiatives.
Create a digital online platform that populates, integrates, and cross pollinates BD development prospects with on and off-island investors. This could include OZ Funds.
Strengthen and enhance IPR’s relationship with IPR’s investor base, both on and off island, sharing up-to-date knowledge of projects, opportunities, and highlighting IPR’s accomplishments and soliciting their feedback.

Budget, Reporting, & Coordination of CRM (Meticulously manage the CRM pipeline and budget to ensure the highest levels of accountability, performance, and resource management):

Manage, address and measure all customer relationship management (CRM) activities to log, track, and manage inquiries, requests, information provided, lead potential, and investment status.
Regularly report to CBDO on CRM.
Work closely with the CBDO to develop an appropriate budget and resource strategy to ensure maximum utilization of CRM.
Collaborate and coordinate with relevant organizations and other stakeholders in region.
Help Manage BD staff in Puerto Rico on specific projects.
Any other responsibilities that the CBDO or executive team determine to be appropriate in order to fulfill IPR’s mission and mandate in the region.

Requirements & Qualifications

BD Administration
Established proficiency in the creation, management, and implementation of Customer Relations Management (CRMs). Expertise in Salesforce is a plus.
Experience developing new business prospects platforms that both create and secure lead generation.
Demonstrated client relationship management skills. Ability to code and superior understanding of foundational principles and management of CRM.
Exceptional organizational and management skills, including the handling of multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
Ability to drive, train and motivate others.
Driven, focused work ethic with strong accountability.
Excellent follow-up and follow-through.
BD Positioning

Experience successfully launching and managing compliant online investment platforms.
Enjoy networking and collaborating with diverse groups in both the public and private sectors.
Knowledge of US and Puerto Rico Securities Law for foreign and domestic investment.
Established connections in global entrepreneur and investment ecosystems.
First-Hand experience navigating the Act 20/22/60 decree process (other Acts such as 73 a plus)
Experience working with emerging technology companies, understanding of capital markets and/or financial services industry.
Availability for occasional domestic and international travel.
Self-starter with the ability to think creatively and work effectively with small teams.
Experience developing new business prospects and managing prospects to a successful completion.
Effective communicator, written and spoken, with strong presentation skills.
Team player.
Demonstrated client relationship management skills.
Excellent follow-up and follow-through.
Maintain a professional demeanor at-all-times.

Knowledge & Experience

Five to seven (5-7) years of economic development, business development or sales experience working with CRM systems.
Fully bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Experience working with emerging technology companies, understanding of capital markets, VC and angel networks, and/or financial services industry preferred.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) required, an MBA, JD, or MPP preferred.
Advanced Computer Literacy, Extensive CRM experience, and MS Office (word, excel, power point and outlook).
