SUMMARY OF POSITION : The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for directly supervising the production personnel on their respective product lines, achieving quality and production objectives; ensuring compliance with the Quality System; emphasizing an environment of teamwork, innovation, performance management, administration of company policies and procedures; safety and good housekeeping. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Safety: Promote a safe work environment. Preform daily safety meeting (including Two Minutes for Safety). Perform accident investigations and document within 24 hrs. Conduct Monthly Safety Audits and identify hazardous observations. Ensure the non- hazardous waste and hazardous waste is handle according the EHS procedures Support the waste reduction initiatives (waste elimination, reuse and recycling) Quality Prepare, review and update manufacturing SOP's. Participate in Surgeon's Table, analyze defects, initiate corrective actions, and follow up on its effectiveness. Suggest and implement changes in manufacturing procedures to improve quality. Ensure that the Visible Metrics, SPC & OPE metrics will be documented and monitored, as per established program. Ensure manufacturing practice is consistent with Covidien Quality System (Quality Policies and Quality Procedures). Conduct monthly facility audit(s). Ensure that NCRs, CAPA & FTR investigations are completed in less than 30 days. Service Achieve daily production requirements outlined in master schedule. Monitor and audit manufacturing procedures to ensure correct practices are followed. Monitor and take the proper action on Backlog, Backorder and net requirement to assure that KPIs are met. Cost Pr epare labor efficiency reports and analyze deficiencies. Control costs by reducing scrap and rework, meeting standards and improving methods. Maintain records on scrap, rejects, efficiency, labor and daily activities. Analyze cost and reasons for variances in labor and material and implement corrective actions. Opex Responsible to lead two (2) Lean or one (1) Six Sigma project per fiscal year and/or Cost Saving project according to performance goal financial savings. Support the Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing initiatives from other departments. Drive and sustain Opex & Quality initiatives (i.e., QIP, QBWM) HR Provide direct supervision and leadership to Team Leaders, Assembler II & Assemblers. Responsible for addressing and resolving employee concerns, whether directly or indirectly disclosed. Maintain a healthy work environment according to Covidien Business Conduct (harassment, drug, conflict of interest, etc.). Responsible for the Reward and Recognition Program of direct employees. Evaluate the performance of Assemblers and Team Leader operators or other applicable position, and complete the performance evaluation on time. Perform payroll activities. Other Tasks Interact with support groups to insure production of quality products and the implementation of products successfully. Participate in Focus Factory Meetings. Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS): Must observe all federal, state, and company EHS policies and regulations. Must follow the proper indications established in the related EHS SOP's. Follows and support all guidelines established in the organization for the implementation and continuous improvement of the EHS and BEST program. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Education required/ preferred: Bachelor Degree in Administration, Science or Engineering. Experience: 2 years' experience in a high volume or labor intensive manufacturing work environment, preferably in the medical device industry. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Broad knowledge of a specialized or technical field such as industrial management Supervisory skills Bilingual English/Spanish Lean and Six Sigma training/certified preferred.
