Overview Responsible for leading teams of Manufacturing Specialists to meet all aspects of Operations requirements, including: Safety, Environmental Control, Respectful Treatment of People, and Ethics; yields, quality, environmental control, etc. Responsibilities Participates in, supports, provides guidelines and establishes expectations in Core Values, Safety, Occupational Health (OH), Environmental, Ethics Compliance, Respectful Workplace; Process Safety Management (PSM), Contamination Prevention (CP) and/or Quality System (International Standard for Organization (ISO 9000)) activities, such as elements champion, committees, leading incident investigations, audits, generating and/or approving procedures, etc. including tracking and completing related action items. Directs or resources the manufacturing teams in the Operation unit (Coupling & Drying, Tank Farm, Solvent Recovery and Utilities) in activities such as scheduling / coordinating, troubleshooting / problem-solving of process, quality, mechanical reliability, and waste issues, setting up & monitoring performance metrics, so that Operations goals are met. Works directly or through the team with Operations Specialists/Technical Specialists as required on technical issues for complex problem solving and in continuous improvement activities on the Operation unit (Coupling & Drying, Tank Farm, Solvent Recovery and Utilities) processes / equipment. Manages team and team members' performance including evaluations, reviewing root cause, developing corrective plans and actions, as appropriate. Develops team members functioning knowledge, skills (technical and soft) & abilities, including qualification testing, to perform their jobs in a more effective manner in compliance with Core Values, Contamination Prevention, Quality System (ISO 9000) standards so that required goals are met. Develops required team skills & abilities that will enable functioning more independently and execute the Operation unit goals with minimal management. Provides regular communications to team members in a way that relevant information is available for team to perform effectively and meet assigned goals. Helps develop, and lead the deployment of, Human Resources (HR) practices, work structures, organizational processes and systems that will enable the Operation unit teams to become a more self-sufficient and effective team organization. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Required Education Bachelor's degree preferred. Training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of safety and environmental regulations standards and guidelines, including Process Safety Management (PSM) guidelines, Contamination Prevention (CP) guidelines and ISO 9000 (International Standard for Organization) guidelines. Demonstrated knowledge of the technical fundamentals of chemical manufacturing processes and key related metrics used to monitor and improve process performance. Demonstrated ability to communicate both in English and Spanish (oral and written) effectively Demonstrated ability to apply Six Sigma and Lean methodology to deliver sustained results. Demonstrated ability to identify and integrate talent to build an aligned work team to effectively deliver against established goals and objectives. Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and prioritize multiple tasks and changing priorities. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict in order to reach win-win solutions Demonstrated ability to train, coach and enable the development of others. Sources and develop systemic solutions. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member, frequently accomplishing objectives via influence management versus direct control.
