The Process Control Engineer III is responsible of support all APL Manufacturing Process Control and Utility systems for all installed software and hardware components. It includes configuration control, change management, enforce system security policies and procedures; perform hardware troubleshooting and maintenance as per applicable departmental procedures. Will also be responsible for project management and the software maintenance of the Automatic Process Controller (APC) on AbbVie, Ltd Barceloneta, PR Provide first line support to all AbbVie Manufacturing Process Control and Utility systems for all installed software and hardware components. It includes configuration control, change management, enforces system security policies and procedures; perform hardware troubleshooting and maintenance as per applicable departmental procedures. Responsible for the software maintenance and validation of the Automatic Process Controller (APC) on APL consistent with the software development life cycle model. This embraces evaluating user needs, analyzing alternatives, presenting proposed solutions utilizing APL's Process Control Systems: (DCS, PLC's, and HMI). In the course of these activities, at times the solution can be in the form of in-house development or implementing a third party software package. Establish project management techniques in monitoring, reporting and controlling projects according to size and criticality. Incumbent will be responsible for establishing, executing and documenting the project plan according to the project life cycle of a FDA regulatory industry. Assignments will be carried-out with a minimum guidance for medium to major projects. Responsible for executing and validating upgrades, backups, migrations, and installation of service packs for PCS applications like DeltaV, IFIX, OSI/PI, FactoryLink, FactoryTalk and Wonderware Archestra/InTouch. This position provides first line support to all AbbVie Process Control Systems users for all installed software and hardware components. Resource must be available to support Manufacturing activities when is required. Since the systems are necessary to support the plant operations, the Process Control Engineer III must adapt the work schedules to perform or support maintenance works, replacements, upgrades, migrations and other changes to systems in production during off-peek hours. This might require working overtime, overnight or on weekends. Also he must be on call during the off hours to attend any emergency or critical problem that may arise with the systems that support the plant operations. In addition this position is accountable for the software maintenance and validation of AbbVie's Process Control Systems to control Utility and Pharmaceutical process. This position will have Budget responsibility as it relates to specific assigned projects. These expenditures embrace cost controls within AbbVie operational budget as well as capital program projects. Accountable for establishing and tracking an operational budget (when assigned), that encompasses the departmental goal and direction. Educational Requirements: B.S. Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Chemical) Knowledge of FDA regulation applicable to information systems (21 CFR Part 11, Validation) Knowledge of Process Controls standards and industrial instrumentation. Broad knowledge of MS operating system (MS Windows Server 2008 & 2012, Windows 7) including server roles: AD, DNS, Virtualization, Remote Desktop, etc. Experience Requirements: 5-8 years on the Process Control & Automation environment Must have proven experience with DeltaV control system and PLC Ladder Logic. Experience in Bio-Tech, Chemical, or Pharmaceutical industries is required. Strong interpersonal people and problem solving skills. Excellent written and verbal skills both in English and Spanish.
