Service Learning Designer

Plenitud is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving individuals and communities by sharing knowledge for a sustainable and harmonious life from our teaching center in the peaceful rural town of Las Marias, PR. Plenitud has been a leader in offering environmental educational services to farmers, students, and others since 2010. Our organization's focus on resilience left us well poised to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. We are still working to meet increased demand for long-term solutions like rainwater harvesting systems, agroecological farming, construction of emergency shelters, and school gardens. At the heart of our service is experiential learning in sustainability, nature, and the arts that engages people in community service and fosters relationships & connection. This VISTA will evaluate and improve systems for the coordination and management of educational programs, including local workshops & internships & assisting with partner school outreach. The heart of this position is the service learning & academic service learning that engage groups of students in immersive educational experiences combined with community service. The VISTA must creatively engage with alumni of these programs to support their journeys and keep growing the extended Plenitud family. The VISTA will also be responsible for implementing a system for engaging volunteers. This VISTA position requires a self-directed candidate who is comfortable in a leadership role, is able to collaborate in a diverse and dynamic team setting, and is passionate about service learning, community engagement, and loving kindness. The person should be a skilled writer with proficient computer skills and ideally 2-3 years of experience in program/curriculum development and/or educational work. We need a leader who is passionate about deepening and expanding a core program of the organization. The position will run for 1 year, July 22nd, 2019 until July 17th, 2020.
