All children receive educational experiences that are developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate.
The focus is on readiness to move to kindergarten.
Literacy, numeracy, and social/emotional development are areas measured for growth and development.Children also receive a broad array of health services including screenings and referrals, maintenance of immunization schedules, nutrition assessments and follow-ups, mental health assessments as part of initial screenings, and determination if any mental or physical delays are present.
Enrolled children receive healthy meals, along with an assessment of their nutritional needs and the necessary follow-ups.
Nutrition education is available for parents and incorporated into daily classroom activities for the children.JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSEUnder direction of the Education Coordinator, the Teacher Supervisor ensures activities at the designated site are designed to promote the childrens social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.
This position coordinates planning individual and group activities to stimulate learning according to the ages of the children.
Fosters a collaborative environment to promote a positive and productive teaching atmosphere.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Works cooperatively with all staff members, provides supervision of teaching staff and helps promote a positive atmosphere in the school sites, actively embracing diversity and addressing any form of prejudice and promoting understanding of all cultures Review end-of-the-month teacher and co-teacher paperwork for accuracy and to ensure timely submission of monthly paperwork and reports Oversees the physical environment consistent with state and local licensing requirements and the health and safety needs of the children Provide children with an environment that includes varied activities to help children develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physical in manner appropriate to their age and stage of development, with the overall goal being to achieve social competence for the child Implements the program curriculum for children enrolled in morning and afternoon classes (double sessions). Plan individual and group activities to stimulate learning and promote parent involvement in the childs learning.
Works cooperatively with Assistant Teacher and Family Advocate (FA) to provide information and resources to enrolled families Conducts daily classroom planning, maintains child records in conjunction with the FA and submits accurate monthly paperwork on timely basis Observes, screens and assess child development level and develops goals that relate to the child (individualization) Integrates various services into the learning, such as parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, mental health services, and disabilities Provide a planned program of activities, which supports and enhances the role of parents as the prime educators of their children Provide a learning environment that reflects the varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the children in the program and the larger communities and societies in which they live Other duties as requiredQualificationsREQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications Valid California Drivers LicenseEDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development or related field Transcripts required to prove a minimum of 24 semester units of coursework in in Early Childhood Education / Child Development, including: o 6 semester units in Administration (At least 3 semester units is required at hire and any additional units for a total of 6 units must be completed within 1 year of hire) o 2 semester units in Adult Supervision Site Supervisor Child Development PermitEXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years of teaching experience Minimum 1 year of supervisor experienceKNOWLEDGE Child Development principles and theoriesTECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Demonstrated computer proficiency; including word processing, spreadsheet, and online applicationsSKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong written and verbal communication, set priorities, handle multiple tasks, problem solving ability Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflict, including dealing with un-cooperative clients Must be able to clearly impart information to children in a manner that is understandable to them according to age and background Ability to work well as a team member Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, with or without reasonable accommodation, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
