For more information, visit www.coopervision.com JOB TITLE: Utilities Operations Manager DEPARTMENT: Engineering Operations JOB SUMMARY Supervises, coordinates and improves the utilities operation and maintenance activities in order to ensure a continuous and reliable supply to all users. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Accountable for: Ensuring critical utility systems are in operation consistently (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) Reviewing and approving Scope for Utilities' Projects Assuring Utility Systems are adequate installed Improving utilities systems Investigating incidents and accidents Ensuring utilities infrastructure is adequate for operations Ensuring adequate use and care of the facilities Ensuring adequate housekeeping and organization of work areas Ensuring PMs are executed on time Actively participating in development, execution and maintenance of business continuity plan Assuring compliance with policies, procedures, laws and regulations, including all applicable disciplines such as environmental, safety, quality systems, PRASA, etc. Administering payroll, overtime, and vacations for non-exempt employees Generating, reviewing and/or updating SOPs Administering purchase requisitions Administering and controlling spending budget Planning and execution of the plant shutdown and startup activities assisted by applicable departments. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of calibrations and preventive maintenance programs Knowledge of Quality System Regulation (QSR) Strong knowledge of troubleshooting and maintenance of utility equipment (HVAC, purified water, compressed air, boilers, etc.) Knowledge in utilities validations Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations Excellent interpersonal skills Fully bilingual (English/Spanish) Teamwork and service oriented Effective leadership Problem solving and decision making skills Ability to handle, organize and follow up multiple priorities Must be a team player and able to work under pressure Highly motivated, self-starter, and responsible person WORK ENVIRONMENT Generally, works in a closed environment, in office conditions, with moderate level of noise and Will be exposed to maintenance and construction activities related to the utilities operation such as high noise, dust, vibrations, hot surfaces and other machine/equipment field conditions. Needs to visually inspect parts, units and systems from a sitting, standing, bending, squatting, or overhead position. Needs to frequently walk throughout the site, both in the interior and the exterior. Will be exposed to conditions in the exterior, including high humidity, heat and noise, typical of Utilities areas in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry. Needs to stand for extended periods of time. Needs to frequently climb stairs and ladders. Uses hands to feel, handle and reach Perform medium physical effort such as lifting, bending, pulling and pushing Could be required to travel Will need to work for extended hours in Utilities areas such as mechanical yards and mezzanines in order to coordinate, supervise and follow up on activities such as repairs and troubleshooting. Applies communication skills (advanced reading, writing, and technical skills) and mathematical concepts knowledge to perform work and coordinate with others. Needs to have high analytical capacity, and high level of professionalism and judgment to resolve problems. Will work near moving mechanical parts and electrical equipment EDUCATION Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering EXPERIENCE One to four years of experience in a maintenance field related to medical devices or pharmaceutical industry Experience in supervision of technical personnel When required, needs to be on site during off hours (i.e. nights, weekends) for coordination and follow up of critical issues.
