The Alaka'ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for Biostatisticians to provide statistics support services for the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) Division of Vector Bourne Diseases (DVBD) Dengue Branch in San Juan, PR. DUTIES INCLUDE: Providing technical and logistic support in a laboratory setting. Working with close oversight from the Senior Biostatisticians in the Division of Vector Borne Diseases and the Epidemiology Team Lead at the Dengue Branch. Providing daily biostatistical support for research and public health activities at the Dengue Branch. Developing and maintaining data analysis programs to analyze raw data from laboratory tests and surveillance systems using statistical software (SAS). Developing and maintaining laboratory databases to store relevant diagnostic data, produce real-time data reports on test progress, and produce summary reports and higher-level analysis on outbreak testing. Performing all duties in compliance with local and federal quality systems and documenting daily work with good laboratory practice compliance to the head of lab. Adhering to all safety requirements of the lab including providing proof of vaccinations required for entry into the lab. Developing computational methods for analysis of data from in vitro diagnostic tests; analyzing lab data, entering maintaining, and managing data in the STARLIMS database and other Access and SQL laboratory databases. Developing statistical computational methods for analysis of data. Performing data analysis and ensuring statistical accuracy when developing data collection procedures. Conducting analytical investigations using scientific methodology and problem solving. Preparing routine reports on epidemiological and surveillance studies and projects. Applying statistics and/or computer technology to epidemiological studies, laboratory studies, prevention research, and other selected forms of studies/research conducted and/or supported by CDC with the use of commercial statistical software packages such as SPSS, R, and SAS. Conducting sample size calculations and methodologies of epidemiological studies and surveillance and case-control study design and analysis. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Experience providing statistical support in areas of epidemiological studies, laboratory studies, prevention research, and other selected forms of studies/research conducted by the CDC is preferred. Experience using commercial statistical software packages such as SPSS, R, and SAS are preferred. Experience developing reports on epidemiological, surveillance, or similar studies/projects is preferred. Experience with sample size calculations and methodologies is preferred. Knowledge of surveillance and case-control study design and analysis is preferred. Thorough knowledge of statistical methods including linear, logistic, and conditional logistic regression models, as well as survey statistics and survival analysis, is preferred. Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is preferred, May be required to travel.
