Job Summary Responsible for database design, creation, coding, implementation, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting for software applications. General Duties and Responsibilities: Establishes database standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, data maintenance plans, and security policies. Models databases and develops tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, and other database objects. Maintains database dictionaries, and both monitors and enforces overall database design standards and methodologies. Works closely with other developers to translate often complex business requirements to application functionality and enhancements. Participates as a member of development support team on projects. Works with capacity planning, operations, application developers and other application stakeholders on database performance and access issues ensuring all SLAs are met. Provides 24/7 support of production database environments. As primary administrator, provides on call support as needed for on-call issues with database environments and provides follow up and permanent resolution for reoccurring issues. Implements backup/recovery procedures to protect integrity of data in multiple database environments (Dev, Beta, UAT, QA, and Production). If necessary, participates in recovery of databases and assists with disaster recovery testing and documentation. Committed to providing world class customer service to all customers. Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. General Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 8 years of experience Knowledge of database utilities on multiple hardware/software platforms using DB2, Oracle and MSSQL Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles, i.e., waterfall, iterative and other modern approaches to software development Proficiency to create and support database technical environments Proficiency in business modeling and requirements definition disciplines through Unified Modeling Language (UML), use cases, etc. Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction for internal and external customers Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors Willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise to other resources Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills Is resourceful and proactive in gathering information and sharing ideas Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed SDL2017
