Tetra Techs San Juan/Mayaguez office is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Environmental Scientist/Engineer II to support a diversity of projects for a variety of public and private sector clients. This position is initially Part Time Temporary to support ongoing Post-hurricane Maria recovery effort, which requires to possibly work 12-14 hours a day, 6-7 days a week, day/night shifts and possibly in inclement weather. However, Tetra Tech is looking for personnel with interest in a long term professional relationship with the companys operations in Puerto Rico. IMMEDIATE RESPONSIBILITIES: Support ongoing debris monitoring, stormwater management, hazard mitigation program development and implementation, solid waste management, environmental assessments and compliance documents, and environmental impact statements for projects in Puerto Rico and the USVI. Support to develop opportunities with local public and private clients to increase Tetra Techs market participation in Puerto Rico. RESPONSIBILITIES: Environmental engineering and management, local agencies permit coordination and processing, preparation of environmental assessment and compliance documents, Phase I ESA, site investigations, etc. for a variety of projects for several public and private sector clients. Responsible for coordinating and processing permits with local public and federal agencies. Conduct field site visits and provide field work support. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard scientific techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making assessment determinations. Assignments have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in environmental science or engineering, or related science discipline. An advanced degree is preferred but not required. Must have 5 - 10 years of relevant professional experience in environmental sciences or engineering and maintain strong interdisciplinary skills. Must have a good driver record issued by CESCO and proof of active auto insurance. Requires a professional that demonstrates the ability to work well with clients and Tetra Tech team members. Must be highly motivated, customer focused, a critical thinker and problem solver, detail-oriented, and a team player with strong focus on quality. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as computer literacy with at least MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Manager Software.
