The Brookline Parks and Open Space Division is seeking a Horticultural Supervisor to administer, supervise, and perform manual work overseeing and implementing the planning, design, construction and installation of special horticultural areas in parks, playgrounds, town/school grounds, conservation areas and other grounds.
Provides quality cost effective landscape design for presentation including irrigation, grading, drainage, masonry and planting.
Prepares contract documents for bidding including specifications and cost estimates.
Reads, understands and follows construction or planting plans with ability to make in-field adjustments when needed.
Serves as Division Horticulturalist with in-depth knowledge of ornamental annuals, perennials, ground covers, shrubs and trees, manages pest and disease control for ornamental plantings.
Directs crews performing maintenance activities and coordinates work with other departments and user groups as appropriate.
Ensures that horticulture areas are prepared for presentation and/or completion in accordance with deadlines and schedules.
Prepares daily work crew schedules and seasonal work plans.

Associate's degree in horticulture and design, turf or grounds management; Bachelor's degree desired; five years of experience working in landscaping and horticulture, and maintenance of parks and grounds; supervisory experience desirable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B.
Valid MA Hoisting Engineer's License.
MA Pesticide Applicators License.
Starting Salary $31.13 per hour plus generous benefits.
