Molding/Production Operator

Position Overview

Adjust and use the manufacturing machinery or equipment, including molding machines and secondary molding equipment, using any combination of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or computer technologies depending on what kind of machinery is used.

Operate and/or tend to plastic molding machines and secondary molding equipment.

Essential Job Functions

Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
Verify the functionality of safety equipment.
Observe continuous operation of automatic or manual machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary.
Operate and/or tend to plastic molding machines and secondary molding equipment.
Position and secure work pieces on machines.
Remove finished or cured products from dies or molds, using hand tools, air hoses and other equipment.
Trim excess material from parts, using knives, and grind scrap plastic into powder for reuse.
Cool products after processing to prevent distortion.
Visually inspect products for surface and dimension defects in order to ensure conformance to specifications.
Test products or subassemblies for functionality or quality.
Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products.
Start up and shut down processing equipment.
Other functions may apply as required by the position or the company; additional functions may be added as required by the company.

Requirements

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses as well as controlling operations of equipment or systems and watching indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
This position requires being on your feet for at least 8 hours.
This position requires being able to lift at least 30 pounds.
