General Description Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepares, examines, or analyzes accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Prepares journal entries, maintains balance sheet schedules and ledgers, and account and bank reconciliations. Establishes tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts. Performs statistical analyses to determine variances, trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for management. Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits. Develops, maintains, and analyzes budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs. Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures. Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. Offers suggestions about accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures. Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and supports the completion of applicable tax returns. Reconciles and monitors correspondent bank accounts related to investments in order to avoid any overdrafts. Monitors restrictive donations Actively supports internal and external auditors Education Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university. Certifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is desirable. Experience Three years of related experience in applying accounting principles, analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports.
